Volunteering

Can You Help?

Monday evenings in term-time – Volunteer helpers always welcome.

Have fun and be part of the enthusiastic and committed team in the friendly environment of Prestwood Youth Club.  Help young people achieve personal and social growth whilst also gaining personal satisfaction; a great way to bring inter-generational cohesion to our local community.

Whether you have spare time or wish to gain valuable experience to add to your CV, it’s a productive and rewarding way of giving something back.  Anything from a couple of hours a week, according to your availability.  If you feel comfortable with youngsters, have a specific hobby, sporting interest or activity, then young people will welcome you with open arms for a taster session evening or demonstration.

We’d love to hear from you (16+ years), Gap students, people in between jobs.  Training and support will be given – you won’t be expected to start in at the deep end.

Become a Junior Leader  –  If you are aged 14 years, or older, and involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme or similar, community service to an organisation such as ours carries “cred” for the CV or the UCAS form.

Do you do an interesting job? –  Come and talk to the youngsters about your job, profession, hobby or interest (10 minutes tops) to give them an insight into the world of work and the choices that there are out there.  Perhaps, afterwards, linger for a while to share a coffee and answer any questions the young people might have.

Perhaps you’re a more “behind the scenes-type?” Come and join the PYCAG Management Committee.   It provides support, advice and guidance to  our voluntary staff on sources of activity skills and works to locate funding for its continuing programme.  Voluntary hands-on leadership enables us to minimise the cost whilst maximising the resources for young people and the community as a whole.

Become a Trustee – Trustees are people who are both individually and severally responsible for the management of  PYCAG and its financial assets and for ensuring that its objectives, aims and activities, as set out in its Constitution, are adhered to. Trustees may also be, but not necessarily, members of the Management Committee.

If you’re a practical rather than a committee personassist us to raise money, distribute leaflets, and brew cups of tea at our events.

As a youth charity, all our volunteers are required to undertake a DBS check prior to commencing volunteering.   Prestwood Youth Club is affiliated to Action4Youth www.action4youth.org which is dedicated to helping young people realise their potential.
